A bug on Solution Paths applet

Post by tails »

I've found a small bug on the Solution Paths applet. When we select the "Numberd Solution", the applet shows the move numbers as well as the attempt numbers mixed together.

i'm getting rid of the green. it'll be gray. i can lighten the board, too.

Grey?! *shiver* I rather liked the green actually. Maybe you can let users input their preferred background colour somewhere instead?

I'm running SuSE Linux 9.3, with java-1_4_2-sun-1.4.2.06-4. I'm using Firefox 1.0.3.

hmmn, interesting on that class versioning thing. i must have compiled for java 1.5 by accident. i'll fix that.

letting users set bg color is a good idea. i'll do that someday =)

Quotes (single quotes, double quotes)

Post by dmwit »

I've noticed in a few places that single quotes (') and double quotes (") are escaped, ie displayed with the leading slash (\). For example, my comment on here:
http://test.goproblems.com/comment.php3?prob=7804
This also occurs in problem descriptions. I can't remember which problem I saw this on, but it was in the Java applet part of the description.

test.goproblems

Post by russ »

Hi there,

I have tried to access your test/development site, and have been unable to get the page to display. My version of java is recent enough (1.4) but I'm using a Mac. Will the new page only work with PC's?

Many complements otherwise on the very fine website (older version)!

cheers, Russ

okay, the applet has been updated. should work with java 1.4 now, and the german and norweigan text is in, along with french, hebrew, and japanese.

this site works on mac and linux as well as the pc. you just need java in your browser.

yeah, i've noticed the single quote thing too. i have an idea on that, thanks...

High cpu on stone placement

Post by dmwit »

I notice that my cpu usage rises dramatically to 100% for about 2.5 seconds after a stone is placed on the board. This happens whether the stone captures anything or not, and whether the stone was placed by human or computer. I don't notice this on the old applet.

I wonder what takes so much computation power?
