So, I went to Anime Expo 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and I played this guy at this booth. He was 8k and I was 1k. We first played even and, needless to say, I killed a few of his groups and he resigned quickly. I won a poster as a 'prize' and proceeded to play him at 6 handi even - he resigned again but not as quickly. I reviewed the game at home (I have excellent replay memory) and found this. On another note, his booth actually sold a board; it wasn't made correctly: the star points were at the 5-5 point. They also sold really cool albeit tiny and misshapen stones. Their website is http://ouranimelife.com/. They apparently deal in amateur films that imitate anime themes. Their first episode opens with a Go game, so it seems that the cast have an active interest in Go. Of course, the fact that they not only sold boards and stones, but also Go themed shirts is proof enough that they have an active interest in Go.
